The amazing Victorian stars are easy to make, if you take it step by step.
They consist of a flamingo star, used English-French dictionary (can be any dictionary), an old sheet of manuscript paper, ribbons in pastel colors, glue lacquer, a brush, a used bouquet of artificial flowers(I used a bouquet of crocus found at a flea market), silver pipe cleaners, a little steel wire, a little lametta, spray glue, silver and snow glitter.
England’s Queen Victoria ruled from 1837-1901. It was a time of great cultural and artistic expression. Britain’s empire stretched across the globe, and London was one of the most powerful cities in the world. The architectural styles that evolved or were revived during the Victorian era were a testament to the British desire to find a unique “British” form of architecture that combined elegance and grace with the technologies and materials of the latest industrial age.
Start by gluing triangles, cut out of the dictionary, on the flamingo star. When dry (dries in a good hour) cut a little steel wire of 6-8 cm and squeeze it together in half, as shown.
Take a needle and make holes in the end of the star and press the steel wire in. Glue it with a small tip of glue with a glue gun.
Take the silver pipe cleaners and shape them to follow the outline of the star and glue them on the edges with the glue gun, one side at a time.
Next, the star is sprayed with a thin layer of glue spray and snow glitter is sprinkled all over the star – repeat on the other side. Set the star to dry for a few minutes. Next, spray the ends and steel wire with a small amount of gold spray. Be careful with the gold because a lot of spray comes out even with a gentle pressure on the spray can ;0). Let dry for a few minutes again.
Cut strips out of the manuscript paper and use zigzag scissors to cut one side. Glue the end of the strip as shown in the picture. Next, turn the strip around 2 times to the right as shown and the end is glued on as shown with a small tip from the glue gun.
Take 3 pieces of lametta, bend them in half and glue them on the star’s top tip as shown.
Tie two bows as shown, cut the ends askew, and glue the 2 bows together as shown. Glue the glued loops on the tip of the star, on top of the silver foil lametta.
Cut a flower of the bouquet and glue it on into the star as shown. Spray a small amount of glue on the loop and sprinkle silver glitter on. In the picture just below you can see the difference before the silver glitter (the star on the left) and with(the star on the right). The silver glitter collects the star and continues into the silver rays of the lametta.
Open the flower carefully and gently spray a little glue spray into the flower head and sprinkle with snow glitter into the flower. It’s going to look like the flower is shimmering with frost.
Now your Victorian star is ready to decorate your house. Enjoy ;0)
