DIY Nightmare before Christmas ornaments

Tim Burton created this amazing story in 1993, and an amazing family movie. The music was nominated for a Grammy and the film was nominated for an Oscar® for “Best visual effects”.

The main character is Jack Skellington, the character known from the Radishes as The Great Pumpkin Man, who is king of the Halloween town, gets tired of the same party year after year, so when he finds the Christmas town he gets wildly excited, Jack misunderstands the meaning of Christmas from his Halloween point of view and think that Santa is the Birdman, a grim and disgusting figure. Therefore, he wants to improve Christmas based on his own (wrong) perception of what Christmas is by being the Birdman himself because he is tired of being the Great Pumpkin Man all the time. So he gets kidnapped Santa to be able to take his place. But it does not go so well and the kidnapped Santa gets his job back.

I love the story and therefore I had to have it on my Christmas tree.

Start by cutting cone according to a template. Then glue striped crepe paper to the cone shape or draw and cut cones out of recycled sheet music.

Cut out strips of crepe paper and glue two strips together but only 1 cm. onto the paper as shown in the photo so you can cut double fringe.

Draw with a match a line approx. 1 cm. down on the back of the cone so you have an edge to glue the fringe edge on as shown.

Turn the cone over and glue the decoration on. Here is a lollypop clip cut from the web and zigzag ribbons and a printed picture, found on the web and cut with a zigzag scissors that are glued on as decoration. Turn the cone into place and glue there along the edge. Insert a pair of scissors into the cone as a counterweight so you can press the glued edges together without pressing the cone flat.

Glue crepe paper on a piece of paper and glue it together twice so that the handle is strong and stable. Glue the handles on.

Then spray with spray glue on the lollipop and sprinkle with snow glitter and along the cut-out pictures and sprinkle with silver or gold glitter.

Tie 2 looped and cut 2 pieces of a wooden barbecue skewer which are painted black with a spirit marker and glue them on the lollypop as shown.

Then the cones are ready to be hung up; 0)

The fine wood lollipop and gift tag hangings are easy to make. they are made on wooden boards and the procedure found here: https://dagmarnjord.com/portraet-diy-til-og-fra-kort-paa-trae-skiver/
